Kudos to those who have already registered for next week’s NACM conference in San Diego, either for the in-person or virtual options. The conference theme of Justice for All: Courts at the Crossroads — Facing Pandemic and Racial Justice Challenges is right on point, addressing two profound worldwide issues. If you have not already registered, I urge everyone to consider “attending” the virtual programming being offered at a very reasonable cost. Virtual attendees will have access to two sets of programming: live-streams of the plenary sessions and many breakout sessions; and a large number of pre-recorded “bonus” sessions on a wide variety of topics that one can view at any time. Here is the link to the conference website and agenda information: 2021 Annual Conference – National Association for Court Management (nacmnet.org).

A good example of the “bonus” sessions is one that Zenell Brown and I recorded: Making Diversity and Inclusion Real — a How-To Primer for Court Administrators. Here is the session description: “Much has been said, written, and taught about why Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) is important and that we all need to commit to the goals of D&I. Yet, we are not often presented with how to translate those goals into concrete actions. This session will focus on the practical aspects of D&I, showing specific action areas across the spectrum of court management. Management areas covered will include: HR practices (recruitment, staff development, performance management, supervision/leadership); budget plans and execution; internal/external “walk the talk” actions; partnering with other entities; and supporting staff efforts, including celebrating diversity. Session participants will be able to immediately follow up with D&I actions in their courts.”

Once again, NACM has done a great job providing excellent education sessions. Don’t miss out!

  1. Good Afternoon Court Leader,

I have made several attempt to sign up for the upcoming event only to be prompted with the following pop-up message

“You are not allowed to join this event. Please contact the event administrator for more information.”

Please provide your assistance in this matter.

    Ms. Renee D. Morris
